Campfire Cookies

 No Camping Required

What the devil is a campfire cookie?  Well, I'm glad you asked. (Just play along this is going somewhere good.)  Why a campfire cookie is a whole lotta s'mores and a little bit more. (OMG, I just wrote a slogan.)  Nailed it.

So this is my apron of choice for today's baking adventure.  And I may or may not have told hubbie to get out of the kitchen house (spoiler--I totally did).  What?  If you love something or someone, you're supposed to set it/him free (in hopes that he comes back with a doughnut from Suzy Q doughnuts.)  What?  That's the way the saying goes.  I couldn't make something like that up!  Oh and he can pick himself up something too.  (Yup, selfless I is.)

Graham crackers; happy, whole and excited, with dreams of Suzy Q doughnuts dancing in their heads. (no wait, that's me)

Graham crackers; crushed, just like my dreams of a Suzy Q doughnut.  Hubbie who is responsible, went out to mow the lawn for one last time this season, rather than going out to get me a doughnut.  Dream crusher!!!  Yes, he did say we could go tomorrow to get me a doughnut...I don't want one tomorrow!  I want one today!  <hulk angry>

Anyhoo, the idea of these cookies sounds really, really good.  Might just need to make myself a s'more or a half s'more.

Okay, better use the rest of the ingredients for the cookies!

Cookie batter is happening in this mixer.  Oh it's happening, people.  (Keep calm.)

You know when you're baking, and you look at the amount of dough a recipe makes and immediately think, 'I should have doubled this'.  I just had that moment.  Yup.

Once the cookie dough spent a night in the fridge (just chilling) it was ready to get baking.

And here they are, baked and ready to take their place in the limelight (and to be eaten).

This is my first recipe from the new book, Baked Occasions.  But the second recipe that the Baked Sunday Mornings gang have baked.  (I missed the first recipe.)  For this recipe and to see how the rest of the Baked Gang liked these cookies, head over to Baked Sunday Mornings.  Or you could always go out and buy this beautiful book.  I can honestly say you won't regret this purchase.  This book is beautiful (just like the first 3 books from Matt and Renato

How were the cookies?  I'm glad you asked. (It's almost over, just play along.)  Why these campfire cookies were Scrumdiddlyumptious!  It is the yummyness of a s'more without the whole s'more making process or the smoke of the campfire in your eyes.  Think I'm just gonna head back into the kitchen and make s'more of these smokin' good campfire cookies.  Nailed it.
